Artist’s Statement:

I am miles away when I paint.  My journey does not take me far from home, but as Twyla Tharp says, “Art is the only way to run away without leaving home”. 

From early on, I have always felt that the creative process put me in my element.  In my career I have used a variety of mediums to express myself. 

I find inspiration in daily activities, and those things often become my subject matter.  Painting images that surround me, I try to expose the beauty that everyday life provides for us ~ a road, a sky, or an animal.  What motivates me is the connection I feel between nature and art. 

I am drawn to oil paints for their luscious quality and the nature of their blending ability.  They offer me the transformation I require to turn a blank slate into a small world, leaving me with a sense of accomplishment.  I paint from the inside out ~ my unconscious guides my hands.
